HEADSHOTS FOR PROFESSIONALS — £ 150
Actors and performers, welcome! Headshots photography can be both cheap and good. My headshots clients have worked at such prestigious London theatres as Shakespeare's Globe, the National Theatre, the RSC, and in film and television.
My prices are based on mobility. With lightweight lighting equipment and a collapsable backdrop, I bring my portable studio to you, rather than hiring one for the day and then raising my prices. You get all the benefits of studio lighting, without having to travel, and without having to lug your wardrobe with you. Because headshots photography needs no more room than that occupied by your head, you tell me when and where you want to shoot, and I'll show up like a doctor on a house call.
Or like a cosmetic surgeon. Unlike yesterday's headshots photographers, and unlike a lot of today's, I do headshots digitally. So you don't have to tolerate a shot that's perfect except for that one little zit on your forehead. Too much retouching, and you won't look like yourself (the number one sin in headshots). Just enough, and you'll look like yourself on a perfect-skin day, courtesy of photoshop cosmetics.
With film, you've had to settle for what the photographer had done, for what was on the contact sheet when you received it, maybe days after the headshots session had finished. With me, you'll get to contibute to what the photographer is doing, during the headshots session.
As soon as I've unpacked my kit bag, set up my laptop, and imported the first of your photographs, you'll get to see yourself. If you don't like the way the session's headed, we'll shake it out and try another route. Because of digital photography, because of the collaboration it allows us, we're able to jointly create your headshots, reacting to what we see on screen, and agreeing on the best light, the best perspective, and even the best outfit. I see this collaboration as root of good portraiture.
The price includes professionally-finished 8x10 or A4 prints of your four favorite headshots, each with a white border, a black border, or no border at all, and each with your name typeset on the front (unless you hate that idea). You also get a personalized CD with email and print versions of the finished headshots, suitable for reproductions, the Spotlight, Casting Call Pro, and so on. A typical session takes three to four hours. If you plan to shop around, please note that some headshot photographers have hidden charges, such high prices for prints or a print-quality CD (four prints and a personalized CD are included in my headshots packages), and others spend only maybe an hour on you and your photos. Please email gs@gormshackelford.com for headshots bookings or general headshots questions. The Spotlight awaits your photo!
